Towards transportation fuel production from food waste: Potential of biocrude oil distillates for gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel

چکیده

Biocrude oil from hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) demonstrates promise as a supplement to the transportation fuel supply. However, its poor chemical (heteroatom content, energy content), physical (viscosity, density), and thermal (boiling point distribution, cetane value, cold-flow properties) characteristics limit commercial application. This study investigated potential for biocrude distillates derived mobile, pilot-scale HTL conversion of food waste serve (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel) blendstock. Distillation increased H:C (4.2–13.7%), decreased O:C (5.5–93.5%), N:C (6.0–39.0%), augmented HHV (4.1–21.3%) compared oil, leading values 1.97, 0.003, 0.004, 52.0 MJ•kg?1, respectively. These were similar (1.65, 1.94, 2.02), (0.02, ~0, ~0), (0.0002, 0.002, 0.002), (50.0, 53.1, 53.4 MJ•kg?1) gasoline, Jet A fuels, With respect properties, distillation density (23.8–30.5%) viscosity (99.5–99.9%), while acidity either or depending on temperature. Despite benefits distillation, blending is still required due N:C, viscosity, distillates. Theoretical calculations determined that with was most favorable blendstock, amounting deviations 63.3–316.6% when distillate proportion ranged 10 50%.

Estimating and Forecasting Petroleum Demand in OECD Countries (Gasoline, Jet Fuel and Diesel)

Today, factors such as increasing energy efficiency, use of alternative fuels, and application of  new fuel standards and new environmental laws in OECD countries have led to wide-range of changes in the structure of demand for fossil fuels. Given the importance of light derivatives, namely gasoline, jet fuel and diesel in the demand basked of OECD countries we focus on these products. We use ...

Pyrolytic Waste Plastic Oil and Its Diesel Blend: Fuel Characterization

The authors introduced waste plastic pyrolysis oil (WPPO) as an alternative fuel characterized in detail and compared with conventional diesel. High density polyethylene, HDPE, was pyrolyzed in a self-designed stainless steel laboratory reactor to produce useful fuel products. HDPE waste was completely pyrolyzed at 330-490°C for 2-3 hours to obtain solid residue, liquid fuel oil, and flammable ...
